After fending off the Gore Magala you'll notice a cut scene where the Ace Commander is reaching for the leader of the Caravan. Why? The vessel we are on is clearly not sinking as it makes it to the island in one piece. So why were they trying so hard to get them off the ship? Easy. Although we managed to fight off the virus we did not truly get rid of it. The ace hunters knew full well what the virus was capable of and knew that if they didn't get the others off the ship they would be killed by us the infected hunter.

The ace hunters manage to get everyone off the ship but we are consumed by the virus and abandoned. The ship crash lands on Cheeko Island and we,the infected hunter,get off. We show symptoms of the virus such as increased aggressiveness,faster than normal movement,and we are much stronger than the average hunter! As we get off the felynes and the old lady that inhabit the island appear to see if we are fine. We slay them mercilessly on sight and without hesitation as our mind creates hallucinations from our immune system trying to fight off the virus and makes them seem like monsters trying to attack us. The Caravan and Ace hunters are on the same island having been swept there by the storm. We then begin to hallucinate that we are with the caravan members and the ace hunters.
We go to the Guildmarms area thinking that we are accepting another quest from her. Each urgent quest is us fighting against one of our comrades from the Caravan or the Ace Hunters which is why sometimes it is so difficult to do or easy(looking at you rookie ace hunter). Some of the quests however are true in the sense that our mind creates the quest based off of a monster that stands in our way. We subconsciously know that there is something wrong but there is nothing we can do about it. We are trapped in our bodies as the virus slowly kills everything we love. Our urgent quest to kill the Shagaru Magala is actually us fighting against the Guildmarm. She is represented by this monster as the one person we held dear which is why the Shagaru Magala is golden and majestic rather than dark and evil! Once we finish her off we stare at the Shagaru Magalas body and then look over the edge of the mountain...this is where the virus begins to become suppressed but it is too late. Our bodies could not handle the strain from fighting the virus and fighting each of our comrades. As the hallucination fades we look down to see the guildmarms body. As we collapse everything slowly begins to fade to black tears running down her face she smiles and tells us that everything is going to be alright.
Of course this is not true but it very well could be. Remember this virus has only recently been heard of by the rest of the world and the one place that does know about it,Cathar,is far enough to not be affected by it as well as that area being forbidden. Something to think about as you go through the story. Happy hunting! :)
